When searching for hospitality jobs or jobs in general online on our sites - or are preparing your hospitality job search and career move - it is very important in this day and age that you are extremely careful which sites you add/load your CV onto.

Your CV contains confidential information which can be very important to non-ethical sites / directories / companies. In some cases unethical practises are being adopted whereby some sites / job directories are adding jobs from newspapers, trade journal etc without the knowledge of the advertiser (and / or) posting non jobs to entice people to upload CV's. There is also the practise that some will sell your information (and / or) send out your CV and information out to all and sundry without your knowledge. Be vigilant.

General Tips on adding your CV on our sites
  • Do not display any personal details other than basic details, name, general area of abode, mobile number and email address
  • do not display any family details, i.e. names of children, ages of children, name of wife etc
  • do not display passport numbers
  • do not display any bank details of any kind
  • do not display any private details of any kind that could compromise your identity in any way
  • never give away your national insurance number until you have secured a position and it is confirmed in the company letterheading
General Tips after applying to jobs on our site
  • Never give your bank details to anyone over the phone
  • Never give them to anybody during a face to face interview
  • Never give your personal details to anyone over the phone unless you can validate them (even if you call us to do so)
  • Never give any personal family details
  • Avoid indicating when you are in or out of your house
We never ever sell or send your data to 3rd parties it is kept in your account until your decide to use it for applications

Tips and general rules on adding your CV to other sites:

DO NOT ADD your CV's to a job sites that:
  • do not display proper company details i.e. company number
  • do not display a bona fide company address (be cautious of companies that display a PO Box number as their address)
  • do not display a proper telephone number (be vary of mobiles)
  • do not display their registration on the data protection register
Other General Tips
  • Ensure that any site you are adding your CV to is registered on the Data Protection Register
  • Do not add your CV to sites ad hoc - always check the sites validity
  • Do not add your CV to sites that offer open source searches of CV's
  • Always check what their privacy / terms of use policy is regarding the use of your CV's
  • Ensure that there is always an "opt in - opt out" of the CV database
  • Further ensure that you have control over the "opt in - opt out"
  • Ensure that there is always editing and deleting facilities for your CV's
  • Be extremely careful about adding your CV to sites that are simply job directories and are not bona fide job recruitment sites
  • Do not add your CV to sites that do not have any mailing address or contact teleohone number
  • Do not under any circumstances give your National Insurance number to anybody until you are absolutely confident and ready to do so
  • Do not divulger any personal information on your CV - it is now an accetable practise to refrain from putting your whole address on your CV - this can be disclosed when you are ready to do so
  • Avoid applying to suspect vacancies - whereby no employer name is displayed - although bear in mind that some employer may advertise anonymously
  • If you are suspicious in any way - call the job board and ask for clarification - do not assume that all companies operate ethically.

  • We always check the validity of the advertiser

  • We always check their reason for using the sites
