For any General Manager, Fuller’s is a special company to work for. You’ll get lots of help and support from Head Office when you need it, but also plenty of encouragement to put your own spin on the pub.

You’ll need to be commercially minded, making the right decisions to keep customers pouring through the doors. Importantly though, you’ll be a people-person too - mindful that to many, you’re still a good old-fashioned ‘Landlord’.

After 3 exceptionally successful years, Paul is taking on a new challenge within Fullers and we are looking for someone to take the helm at the Bat and Ball in Clanfield. The Bat & Ball is a beautiful little pub based in the heart of the South Downs in Hampshire. Known by cricket lovers across the world as the “Cradle of Cricket” this business is where the original laws of Cricket were laid down and very aptly one of the oldest grounds in the country still sits proudly adjacent today. The pub is renowned locally as a popular destination for great locally sourced food, famous for Sundays, all matched with fantastic hospitality. Guests can take advantage of a table in the dining room which benefits from stunning views across the Hampshire countryside or for a less formal experience can enjoy the small but well-appointed bar area. The pub has a pretty garden again with stunning views.
The next General Manager will be able to maintain the Bat and Ball’s existing great reputation and build strong relationships with the local community, getting to know the pubs many regulars and attracting new guests. You will need to have your finger on the pulse, using you strong and creative marketing skills to make sure that the pub stands out and pulls customers in from far and wide. Being an outgoing host and possessing excellent restaurant skills and experience is essential for this position.
