General Manager - London
Role and Responsibilities
The General Manager will typically be able to undertake the duties of the Assistant Managers and, in addition, be responsible for:
- Overall responsibility for the performance of the restaurant, coordinate daily FOH and BOH restaurant operations.
- Communicating effectively with FOH and BOH teams to create a positive atmosphere for colleagues and guests
- Manage and encourage the team to create a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere
- Interviewing potential new team members and following through the recruitment process
- Creating and implementing a comprehensive training plan to ensure that all levels of the team are receiving the correct training for their role and experience. Work alongside the Operations Manager to update training procedures and manuals
- Investigate and inform Operations Manager about any guest complaints
- Keeping the restaurant and other areas organised and at a high level of cleanliness
- Responsible for all food safety and health & sa
- Safety procedures including understand the company’s procedures for managing unplanned Environmental Health visits. Assist the company in achieving 5 Star Hygiene rating
- Adhering to budgets, identify measures to increase efficiencies and meet targets set by senior management
- Oversee the maintenance requirements of the restaurant ensuring Assistant Managers/Head Chefs and contractors are following up on issues in a timely manner
- Prepare adhoc reports as requested by senior management
- Using initiative to solve unexpected problems in the restaurant and to make suggestions for continuous improvements
- Working with the Operations Manager on new initiatives and promotions
- Creating comprehensive and fair weekly team rotas whilst also managing holidays effectively to ensure all shifts are manned as per budget
- Other reasonable duties as requested by the senior management team
Experience/ Skills required
- Ability to stand, walk and carry out physical duties for the period of your shift
- Excellent knowledge of the company’s operating methods and procedures
- Able to lead a team in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining focus and professionalism
- Knowledge of Japanese language and culture is desirable
