Mark Hix’s London restaurants reach across the city and west-end offering a variety of dining styles and menus amongst contemporary artwork. HIX Oyster & Chop House was Mark’s first solo venture and is now celebrating its 11th year.

The wooden floors and tiled walls at HIX Oyster & Chop House create a laid-back room in the heart of historic Smithfield serving the best of British seasonal food, steaks and chops. Chop House menus are built around the long-established, personal relationships that Mark Hix has with his suppliers and use only responsibly produced, carefully sourced and simply served British seasonal ingredients. Wild and foraged ingredients are key to the menus Mark creates and the Glenarm Estate beef is sold exclusively to Mark by Peter Hannan. A must-try for any meat lover.

Tramshed, a former East End tram-generator building in the heart of Shoreditch, just ten minutes’ walk from Liverpool Street, boasts the renowned Cock ‘n’ Bull installation by Damien Hirst. The menu gives centre-stage to Swainson House Farm chicken and Glenarm Estate beef, carved at the table and designed to share. HIX Art gallery in the basement is open all day every day and also offers an ‘industrial-chic’ event space with regularly changing curated exhibitions by emerging artists.

Tramshed has a range of private dining spaces all with their own unique charm. With regularly changing exhibitions your party in HIX Art will always have a different back-drop, the mezzanine will give guests the best view of Tramshed and Damien Hirst’s installation. Alternatively, you can book the whole venue for that extra special party or wedding.

Mark’s Kitchen Library is the hidden gem of Tramshed. As the name would suggest Mark’s Kitchen Library houses Mark’s impressive personal cookbook collection, alongside artworks and curiosities. Here Mark hosts events, food and drink pairings and collaborative dinners with celebrated chefs. It’s also available for private hire – a unique space in Shoreditch for client entertaining or special celebrations.

A stone’s throw from Borough Market, Hixter was originally a metal box factory in Bankside and is lauded as one of the most unique and versatile venues south of the river. The main dining room, complete with a baby grand piano, is overlooked by contemporary artwork and the walls of the striking open-plan kitchen are built with the Himalayan salt bricks that are used to age our beef. Chicken and steak form the heart of the menu, alongside foraged British ingredients, and fish & seafood dishes influenced by Mark’s travels.

Downstairs, Mark’s Bar is a hidden gem featuring an impressive sunken bar with cinema-style bar seating and Mark’s signature billiards table. Here, guests can also book ahead for Cocktail Masterclasses – ideal for groups of friends , team-building or entertaining clients.
