Retail Catering Assistant

Location - Kent and Canterbury Hospital

Hours per week - 40 (Shifts between 7am-6pm  Monday to Sunday 5 out 7)

Kent and Canterbury Hospital are recruiting for a full-time Retail Catering Assistant, to work 5 out of 7 days within the Catering department.

We are looking for someone who will provide an efficient catering service to patients, staff and visitors within the trust, who will be able to prepare and serve food, optimising retail sales, and demonstrating high levels of customer service.

Your role will also include cleaning the catering equipment, alongside additional domestic duties, maintaining excellent levels of hygiene at all times.

Part of your role will be to operate a cash register, and also handle cash. You will participate as a member of the team, covering other member of the team, and undertaking other ad hoc duties which may arise.

What skills do you need for this role?

  • Experience within a catering department
  • Experience working within a similar setting/ hospital setting would be beneficial
  • Basic skills training, e.g. Food preparation, Basic Food Hygiene
  • Good communication skills
  • Good customer care skills
  • Completing of mandatory training, e.g. manual handling/risk assessment/fire safety training
  • Able to work to agreed standards and follow work instructions
