Hours: 1 Full time (37.5 hrs), 2 Part time (15hrs) and (20hrs) available
Salary: £15,327.22 (Pro-rata for part time)

The Catering Department provides Patient and Retail Catering Services to the patients, staff and visitors to the hospital.
About The Role:
William Harvey Hospital are recruiting for 3 Retail Catering Operatives, to help provide a retail and patient feeding service. Your role will be to maintain high cleaning standards, produce chilled food including sandwiches and optimise retail sales, demonstrating at all times high levels of customer service. The successful applicants will be required to work between the hours of 7am – 8pm.
Main Responsibilities:
- To help provide a retail and patient feeding service that meets the expectations of the patients, staff and visitors both in terms of quality safety in line with Serco Governing Principles
- To maintain high cleaning standards in line with QEQM HACCP system
- To produce chilled food including sandwiches of high quality, consistently in accordance with agreed specifications that helps the Patient Catering Service meet the expectations of the patients and the Trust in quality, safety.
- To assist in maintaining and developing key financial targets within the retail outlets
- Provide a courteous and efficient catering service to patients, staff and visitors within the trust optimising the productivity of the retail outlets.
- Prepare and or serve food to customers in a professional and courteous manner. Optimising retail sales and demonstrating high levels of customer service.
- Cleaning of catering and service equipment including floors, work surfaces, and related equipment manually and by use of machine to hygiene standards.
- Assist in the delivery of the function and vending service within time constraints and meeting stated requirements
- Operate a cash register and handle cash in accordance with the cash handling procedure
- To maintain food safety and hygiene standards in your work area and apply the food safety procedures applicable in work area.
Specific Requirements:
- Basic skills training, e.g. Food preparation, Basic Food Hygiene
- Requires full knowledge of Serco and Trust working practices and procedures and Health and Safety requirements including infection control and Food Hygiene
- Good Customer Care and Communication Skills, e.g. communicating with customers and colleagues
- Completing of mandatory training, e.g. manual handling/risk assessment/fire safety training
- Able to work to agreed standards and follow work instructions
