Bisham Abbey is also a Conferencing and Event Centre, boasting a large number of recently refurbished rooms and outdoor spaces for weddings, corporate events and team-building days. It is located close to London and major transport links, and sits on the borders of Berkshire and

Buckinghamshire in stunning grounds on the banks of the River Thames.

 

We are currently recruiting for a Catering Assistant to work 39 hours per week, 5 days out of 7, on a shift basis from 7am – 3pm and 4pm – 10pm.

 

Job Purpose

The Catering Assistant`s role is to work within the catering team on events and in the cafe to achieve high standards of service and customer care at all times. The role will also ensure food is hygienically prepared and served in accordance with standards laid down by the Catering Supervisor.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure the Company Health and Safety Policy and Procedures and all relevant Food Safety Legislation and smoke free law is complied with.
• Assist setting up and waiting on tables for catering events e.g Weddings/meetings.
• Carry out cleaning duties to maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout.
• Ensure customers are served promptly and efficiently.
• Ensure financial and cash handling procedures are complied with.
• Prepare food and beverages as necessary in accordance with cafe menus and as required by the Catering Supervisor.
• Replenish stocks within the cafe and vending machines as required by the Catering Supervisor.
• Consistently and actively apply good housekeeping principles, such as turning off lights and equipment when not in use, in order to contribute to our strategy to reduce utility consumption and carbon footprint.

 

Essential / Desirable Skills for the role:

• Proven experience of working in a catering role is desirable.
• Hold a Certificate in Food Hygiene or a Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering, Intermediate Certificate in Food Safety or equivalents is desirable.
• Previous experience and knowledge customer care/service in a food retail operation is desirable.
• Health & Safety awareness.
• Customer care/service awareness.
• Good attention to detail and organisational skills.
• COSHH knowledge.
