1x 20 Hours (6mths FTC), Evenings (7.00pm until 11.30pm)

Salary: £8.75 per hour

 

 

About the Job

We are looking to recruit x2 part time Catering Assistants to join our team at Wishaw General Hospital. The successful candidates will assist in the delivery of all catering services to patients, staff and visitors within Wishaw General Hospital including cleaning of all kitchen equipment and dining areas. You will distribute meals to wards and will carry out duties within the retail area of the catering operation. You will be required to maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to health and safety working practices and food hygiene with the kitchen, dining and café areas.

 

The Responsibilities

  • Support in the preparation of meals for distribution
  • Cleaning crockery, cutlery, utensils, containers
  • Assist Chefs with basic food preparation and cooking daily as required
  • Ensure goods are stored correctly and use stock on a rotational basis
  • Ad hoc delivery of catering and supplies to wards and departments when appropriate
  • To work in all areas of the catering department including freezers, fridges and cold rooms
  • Maintaining food hygiene standards and records as required to comply with statutory obligations and HACCP
  • To clean all areas of the catering department and equipment, and undertake in line with the Daily Weekly Cleaning Schedules (DWCS) recording and signing off the required records using paper or electronic equipment.
  • Mopping up of all cleaning materials in work area as required.

 

Specific Requirements

  • Good verbal communication skills and customer service skills
  • Previous catering experience is required
  • Experience of working with cleaning chemicals would be beneficial
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Working knowledge Health & Safety including participation in risk assessing individual tasks.
  • Required to undertake on the job training and induction (this will generally take 4-6 weeks, depending on hours/days worked), to achieve full competency across a range of duties.
