About us

Lisa Meyer started Yum Bun in 2010 in the school yard of Broadway Market, hand making and cooking everything at home, with the help of a few friends. After wowing the locals and famous chefs alike with pork and mushroom buns, the business began to make a name for itself.

By 2011, Yum Bun was asked to join Kerb and spent the summer moving around London’s food markets, gaining a great reputation and a growing following of Yum Bun fans. In 2012 Yum Bun won the People’s choice at the British Street Food awards and started trading with new company on the scene, Street Feast. In April 2013 Yum Bun opened a pop-up shop next to the Old street roundabout. A busy eight months of lunches and evenings laid the foundations for the next phase of Yum Bun. At the same time as trading at Dalston Yard and Hawker House for Street Feast, we did some music and food festivals in our big yellow Bun Bus and did a pop-up at Harvey Nichols department store.

In 2017 Yum bun opened the first seven-day-a-week full time site with Street Feast at Giant Robot in Canary Wharf. We serve a full lunch menu with buns and yumplings, and evenings desserts.

Later in October of 2017 we opened our second seven-day-a-week operation at Spitalfields Market, in Shoreditch, first seven-day-a-week full time site. The menu at Spitalfields is the combination of different flavours of buns in a lunch box and is really popular in the lunch time.

2017 was also time to branch out and try something new. Yum bun launched our delicious Yumplings and opened two new Yumplings stalls at Dinerama and Hawker House in the summer.
